Simple system connections and detailed installation instructions allow most homeowners to install this system themselves. For those who prefer to leave the work to a professional, most plumbers can install the system in 1-2 hours.
Acid neutralization is a must to prevent leaks, maintain fixtures, and ensure good health. Acidic water (water with a pH less than 7.0) can eat away at your plumbing and cause blue/green staining on your fixtures. Some also believe that water with a low pH can have adverse health effects
The pH system uses Calcite to neutralize the acid by dissolving and counteracting the acidity. In homes with pH less than 6.0, a blend of Calcite and Corosex is used, complimenting each other. The Corosex is more aggressive, providing the ability to raise very low pH levels, while the Calcite is slow acting, counterbalancing the Corosex and preventing excessive pH rise. Note: Due to the nature of pH systems some hardness is added to the water. Depending on existing hardness levels and pH level, a water softener after the pH system may be recommended
Controlled by the Fleck 2510SXT digital control head, this system automatically backwashes. The backwash process simply forces water rapidly through the system in reverse direction, lifting the media and flushing accumulated particulates down the drain. It also prevents the media from solidifying and reducing efficiency. Made by Fleck, the #1 manufacturer of control heads in the US, the digital control head offers an easy to use LCD display and touchpad controls as well as shorter, more efficient backwashes.
Service flow rate is the rate (in gallons per minute) at which the media can effectively treat your water. The listed number is the manufacturers recommended rate for maximum neutralization. Higher flow rates MAY be possible in situations where slightly acidic water is desired/acceptable or where incoming water is not very acidic to begin with.
Backwash Flow Rates
The backwash flow rate is the minimum rate that MUST be available to ensure proper backwashing and peak system performance. While lower flows can be used and MAY provide adequate results, using less than the recommended flows WILL void the 30-day satisfaction guarantee. Warranties on the tank and control valve will remain unaffected.
