Product Description
Iron is a common problem in homes today. It causes red staining on fixtures, as well as turning clothes and sometimes even your hair a reddish orange color. Iron bacteria is sometimes present in water with iron, creating a slimy build up in standing water (such as your toilet tank) and can smell like rotting vegetation. Hydrogen Sulphide (mistakenly called sulfur quite frequently) is easily detected by the presence of a "rotten egg" odor, and is sometimes associated with yellow staining. Manganese is most often seen as a black slimy substance that builds in standing water, and may impart a metallic taste to the water.
The Greensand system provides high removal levels at a low price. One of the most popular systems by local distributors, these systems provide excellent treatment in a variety of applications. The media is coated with an oxidizer that allows the system oxidize the contaminates, and in their oxidized form the contaminates are easily trapped. The system periodically backwashes itself to rinse the contaminates down the drain and regenerates the coating with potassium permanganate.
Controlled by the mechanical Fleck 2510 control head regeneration is automatic to reduce the required maintenance. In addition, the 2510 valve provides durability and backwash flows that exceed the abilities of the 5600 valve commonly used on Greensand system, further reducing maintenance requirements.

Chemical Needed:
Service flow rate is the rate (in gallons per minute) at which the media can effectively treat your water. The lower number is the rate at which the media can constantly treat the water, the higher number is the peak rate that can be treated periodically. Service flow rates are based on the manufacturers recommendation for maximum contaminate removal for the media alone, lower contaminate levels MAY be effectively treated at higher flow rates.
Backwash Flow Rates
The backwash flow rate is the minimum rate that MUST be available to ensure proper backwashing and adequate media life. While lower flows can be used and MAY provide adequate results, using less than the recommended flows WILL void the 30-day satisfaction guarantee. Warranties on the tank and control valve will remain unaffected.

A great product at a great price.
It was a pleasure doing business with AFW and Mark was very helpful in answering my questions about the equipment and the installation. For a homeowner with no previous experience, using AFW's install instructions I only had one question about the potassium tank fitting connection. I called Mark and he answered my question. I would suggest if AFW added a picture showing how the tank fitting should be installed in the instructions it would be helpful and save rookies like me from calling Mark. I would definitely recommend doing business with AFW. Also, I'm in south Florida and received equipment in 48 hours.
