Product Description
High density garnet is a natural mineral used to bed filter tanks. It is commonly used as an underbed for filter systems, particularly denser media systems (such as Filox and Greensand) where the density of the garnet maintains bed separation which allows for more effective backwashing. Order based on tank diameter:
8" - 10" Tank - 16 lb
12" Tank - 20 lb
13" - 36 lb (One 16 lb and one 20 lb)
14" - 50 lb
Garnet is also commonly used in multimedia systems as the high density layer, providing filtration of 10-20µ. In a multimedia system garnet typically accounts for 15% of the total media used.

used the garnet rather than gravel. it was recommended even though i had a vortex tank.

Excellent Product
The medium lasts about 3 years with our iron problems. Three years means I need reminders! The garnet is gravel. It goes in first. I highly recommend this system and the medium promoted!
