Service flow rate is the manufacturers recommendation for maximum removal of all contaminants at a constant flow. Intermittent flow rate, lower contaminate levels and/or fewer contacts MAY allow higher treatment flow rates.
Backwash Flow Rates
The backwash flow rate is the minimum rate that MUST be available to ensure proper backwashing and adequate media life. While lower flows can be used and MAY provide adequate results, using less than the recommended flows WILL void the 30-day satisfaction guarantee. Warranties on the tank and control valve will remain unaffected.

Installing 5600SXT carbon water filter
The unit was received in excellent condition. I was replacing a 20+ year old carbon filter. The plastic bypass valve was relatively easy to hook into my existing copper plumbing using flexible piping. Since the unit was already filled with carbon , the assembly of the control head was a very straight forward process and the filling on the tank was simple. Programming of the control head was reasonably easy although the head is also used for water softeners so instruction mentioned settings that did not exist as the head was configured to work as a carbon filter. Instructions were very good. I also viewed YouTube videos showing the installation process. AFW Filters answered my pre-.sale questions with clarity. I understand that my installation with existing plumbing was much easier than a from scratch installation. I recommend this product and AFW Filters.
