No potassium permanganate or any other chemicals are required for operation of the system, it simply backwashes with water.
Causes red/orange staining with levels as low as 0.3 ppm. Treats both ferrous (clear water or dissolved) and ferric (red water or oxidized) iron.
The cause of rotten egg odor. Incorrectly referred to as sulfur most of the time.
Can cause black slime buildup in toilet tanks and may impart a metallic taste to the water
Separate motors for piston control and timing ensures consistent, long lasting operation
Treats a maximum flow rate of 6 gallons per minute
Requires a minimum of 5.3 GPM for backwashing. 6.6 GPM is recommended for optimal system performance and media life.
Combines reliability and digital ease-of-use
Durable, high quality polyglass tank made by a trusted name in tank manufacturing
Uses a highly refined manganese dioxide media for the best results
Simple system connections and detailed installation instructions allow most homeowners to install this system themselves. For those who prefer to leave the work to a professional, most plumbers can install the system in 1-2 hours.
Iron is a common problem in homes today. It causes red staining on fixtures, as well as turning clothes and sometimes even your hair a reddish orange color. Iron bacteria is sometimes present in water with iron, creating a slimy build up in standing water (such as your toilet tank) and can smell like rotting vegetation. Hydrogen Sulfide (mistakenly called sulfur quite frequently) is easily detected by the presence of a "rotten egg" odor, and is sometimes associated with yellow staining. Manganese is most often seen as a black slimy substance that builds in standing water, and may impart a metallic taste to the water.
The Filox* system provides high contaminant removal with excellent service flow rates and reasonable backwash flow rates. Combined with chemical free performance and competitive pricing, the Filox* system is one of the most popular systems for treatment of iron, hydrogen sulfide, and manganese.
Controlled by the Fleck 2510SXT control head, this system automatically backwashes. The backwash process uses no chemicals, simply using the force of water to clean the media and flush the contaminants down the drain. Made by Fleck, the #1 manufacturer of control heads in the US, the digital control head provides LCD display and touchpad controls, allowing for simple, user-friendly interaction. The 2510 valve also offers dual drive motors, providing dedicated control for piston movement and system timing. This allows for stronger piston control, fewer parts (since there are no connecting gears required) and longer, more reliable operation.

Service flow rate is the manufacturers recommendation for maximum contaminant removal at a constant flow for media alone. Intermittent flow rate and/or lower contaminant levels MAY allow higher treatment flow rates.
Backwash Flow Rates
The backwash flow rate is the minimum rate that MUST be available to ensure proper backwashing and adequate media life. While lower flows can be used and MAY provide adequate results, using less than the recommended flows WILL void the 30-day satisfaction guarantee. Warranties on the tank and control valve will remain unaffected.
Filox is the most widely known brand name for filtration media containing a minimum of 75% manganese dioxide. Other brand names shipped may include (but are not limited to): Catalox, Terminox, and MangOx, all containing a minimum of 75% manganese dioxide.
I have a Filox system and I just installed one for my kids. Should have done it years ago. Works like magic. No chemicals required. Highly recommend.
My old system was worn out and did not work very good. I replaced it with this system. I had already replaced all my water lines with Pex , so this was a piece of cake. Make sure you have your tank in place as it is very heavy when filled with media and water. Quiet operation and quick backwash.
This system was easy to install and eliminated the iron and manganese staining immediately. My only complaint is it is very.... noisy when it regenerates. The customer service was top notch Mark answered all my questions and quickly corrected an error in my order.
Very EZ to install, set up and use.
My water test showed 9 ppm iron and iron bacteria. I hooked this filter up and immediately the metallic taste/odor disappeared. Very happy with the purchase.
Product lacks written maintenance costs, procedures and intervals. Reply: It actually has that information in the more info tab and in the instructions for installation.Other than changing the filter media every 5-6 years, there is no other maintenance needed. Thanks!
This really works excellent for taste and smell. Out does my old filter 100/1, no comparison. We love it.
I have had to take my laundry to the Laundromat for almost a year since our well water turned "orange". Since installing our system, our water is very clear and has no odor. I am extremely satisfied with the product. Well worth the money.
