They work by oxidizing the contaminants and as the system is used the oxidizing capabilities of the Greensand media is exhausted. Potassium Permanganate (KMnO4) is a strong oxidizer that rejuvenates the Greensand media, allowing it to continue removing the iron, sulfur, & manganese from your water.
