Replacement GAC/KDF 55 filter fits standard 10" Big Blue filter housings. This is a great upgrade to standard GAC filters or carbon block filters. Used in conjunction with a sediment filter and/or carbon block filter, the system will provide a wide range of treatment. Typical life expectancy varies greatly depending on water parameters and usage. Recommended replacement is at least once a year, with every six months typical.

I want to break this review into two parts. Part 1 - Review this product. Part 2 - feedback for AFW on a new, more sustainable product offering. Part 1 - The GAC/KDF 55 product is excellent. It filters water effectively and is easy to install. What more can I ask for? 5 stars! Part 2 - Can AFW create a solution for reusing the plastic housing? The plastic housing of these units is robust and wasteful to throw out every year. The only wear item is the little foam filter piece and the media inside. How about a kit specifically for this filter size to replace the media inside and a new foam filter? It seems like I can buy the media (which is semi-confusing to choose from), but the foam filter cannot be purchased.
